After the finals this week, the winter vacation officially begins on Jan. 10. The Office of Academic Affairs will make the results of the finals available online or by phone between Jan. 14 and 21. Students are able to select their courses for the next semester with both media between Jan. 10 and 18. The university will be in session again on Feb. 21.

More specifically, the course selection dates in January for each year are as follows: 10th to 11th for seniors; 11th to 12th for juniors; 12th to 13th for sophomores and 13th to 14th for freshmen. Graduate students can do theirs anytime between the 10th and 18th. Those who want or need to take extra hours can do so between the 14th and 18th. For this purpose, phones lines and Internet access are open from 11 a.m. onwards on all the above-mentioned dates. Furthermore, the computer cluster rooms in the Business Management Building are open everyday during the winter vacation (except Jan. 15 and 16) between 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the same purpose. The English Department would also like to remind students who are taking English class that they cannot switch classes or drop out at will. Transfer students who need to take the same course this coming semester must not select their classes online, but should go to Room T303 between 7 and 9 p.m. any day before this Friday to register with the TAs there. Repeat students should get online on the given dates to select the last two classes that are designated to their particular college. Exceptions are given to seniors or fifth year students who can take cross college selections. (~Ying-hsueh Hu)
