The Career Planning and Placement Section (CPPS) of the Office of Student Affairs kicked of 22 seminars over the next two months on a series of issues ranging from career planning to make-up for success on October 12. These seminars are designed to assist students understand the needs of job market so as to use them to their advantage. CPPS planed their seminars under the title of “16 Seminars That Can Change Your Life”, inviting top managers from enterprises to address topics such as newly created sectors, career planning and studying abroad. There will be 14 seminars held weekly at the Chung-ling Chemistry Hall on Tamsui Campus and two on Taipei Campus.
The list of the presenters is very impressive. It includes Lin Jun-ting, the Chief Executive of the Taiwan Planning Inc.; Yang Ken-chen, the Managing Director of Pan Asia Manpower Corp. (www.999.com); Lee Mao-yen, the Deputy Managing Director of Chiao Tai Distribution Center; Zhong Huei-ling, the Managing Director of a reputable career consulting company in Taipei and Liu Ping, the Chief Executive of the Academic Affairs of the Air Academy. They will provide tailor-made advice to our students on interpersonal relationship, interview’s do’s and don’ts and importance of a global perspective. Such advice, when used wisely, can become the key to success for the students. There will even be a specific seminar on interviews for airline jobs held by Liu Ping who will assure you that they are not that difficult once you understand the challenges and pitfalls.
Apart from job seeking, there will be four seminars dealing with studying abroad (i.e. Japan, Australia, UK and US) for graduate schools. Peng Chuen-yang, the Chair of TKU Japanese Department, together with consultants from other studying abroad centers will talk at these seminars. The final category of seminars are concerned with an equally important factor in one’s success in work, the appearance. Shu Uemura Cosmetics Center, for instance, will demonstrate the most modern make-up for current job interviews. Tsai Shu-ying, a beauty specialist at the Council for Women Career Development in Taiwan will spend six weeks between 2 pm and 4 pm from October 12 to November 9 and one afternoon at the same time on November 23 respectively to speak about basic DIY skin care, application of foundation, no-fuss work make-up, valuable tips regarding perfect brow, charming lips, thorough whitening skin care, tips on anti-aging, evening make-up, hand and hair care, remedy make-up during the day and so on. In other words, everything a woman feels incomplete without. If you want to come across as radiant and confident, go to Rm 408 in the Business Management Building in those afternoons.
