The Faculty and Staff Alumni Association (F&S AA) elected its 2004 council members last Friday, October 8 at the Student Activity Center on Tamsui Campus. The election took place at the Annual Meeting of the Association which resulted in Chang Horng-jinh, the former President, and 14 others elected as council members and Chou Hsin-min with four others elected as the supervisory council members. They will gather at another occasion at a later date to elect the next Sectary of Chief (SC)
The current SC, Chang Horng-jinh explained last Friday at the Meeting that the history of F&S AA could be traced back to 1974 when it was first established. He, in fact, has been the SC since 1994 when the Association reorganized, so he understands very well what it means to belong to a ‘group’ that is more like a family than a ‘company’. He emphasizes that TKU is like a family to us; therefore, as long as anyone who has worked for the University should be considered as an alumna, expanding the narrow definition of the word. The current President, Flora C. I. Chang, who was also present at the Meeting, added that with the size of the F&S AA (over 1000 members), and the effort it can put in with such manpower, the sense of ‘family’ will only increase among all faculty and staff.
The ballot forms of this election had been sent out to all members by e-mail in advance, and were returned anonymously by mail as well. The results were read out at the Meeting on Friday. The names of those council members are as follows: Chang Horng-jinh, Han Yao-lung, Huang Hong-chu, Huang Ming-da, Lo Yun-chyr, Fu Hsi-jen, Chen Kan-nan, Yu Guo-hsin, Tai Wan-chin, Hsu Jing-chi, Chen Huei-mei, Tzou Chong-ko, Hong Chin-ren, Wang Mei-lan and Wang Yu-yu
Supervisory council members are Chou Hsin-min, Lin Kuang-nan, Lee Der-chao, Cheng Li-ming and Wang Man-sa.
There were also six motions raised at the Meeting that dealt with the Charter of the Association and future activities, but did not reach any consensus. It was agreed that after the election of the next SC, these issues would be finalized.
