Teachers and Students from Foon Yew High School JB: Praising Tamkang's Diverse Development, Students Express Desire to Join

On the afternoon of September 19 at 2 p.m., Vice Principal Tan Teck Sen and Director Phang Zi Huey from Foon Yew High School in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, along with Vice Principal Gan Chuang Chee and Director Leong Pey Miin from Foon Yew High School’s Kulai branch, led a group of 24 teachers and students on a visit to Tamkang University. The delegation was received by the Office of International and Cross-Strait Affairs, which arranged a campus tour, academic program experiences, and a discussion session to help the visitors better understand the university and consider the possibility of studying here.

The International Affairs Office arranged for the Foon Yew High School staff to meet with the Vice President for International Affairs, Prof. Hsiao-Chuan Chen. During the meeting, Prof. Chen explained Tamkang University’s unique curriculum features, teaching resources, and the support services provided to international students, expressing hope for future collaborations between the two schools. The campus tour included a visit to the Shao-Mo Memorial Gymnasium, where the facilities were introduced, and the university's efforts in promoting physical education and its notable achievements in various competitions were highlighted. The academic program experiences occurred at the College of Liberal Arts, where the visitors participated in hands-on media production activities. They visited the Creative Digital Media Teaching and Practice Center of the Department of Information and Communication, observing how creativity and technology are combined to produce engaging digital media works. They also experienced the television and radio program production process at Tamkang TV and Voice of Tamkang, gaining practical insights into media work. The students' focused expressions revealed their growing interest in media production.

The discussion session was held at the Hsu Shou-Chlien International Conference Center, led by the Dean of International Affairs, Prof. Chien-Mu Yeh. Through a fun Q&A session, Tamkang University's unique features were introduced, reinforcing the students' impressions. The atmosphere was lively, and Malaysian students currently enrolled at our university were invited to share their study experiences and stories, encouraging their fellow students to consider Tamkang University. During the feedback session, the visiting students expressed that the university's teaching resources, campus atmosphere, and commitment to sports and diverse development enhanced their favorable impression of the school. Many expressed hope to have the opportunity to study at Tamkang University in the future.
