In the 2006 academic year, there are totally 250 TKU juniors studying abroad in TKU’s sister schools for one year. Among them, 153 students from College of Foreign Languages and Literatures will go to 12 sister schools in 7 foreign countries. 54 juniors from Dept. of International Trade, who are all from a special English-instructed class, will study in various American and European universities according to their own choices. The flag-presentation ceremony for junior abroad students and exchange students will be held on August 16, at Chueh Sheng International Conference Hall.
The junior abroad program has been practiced for 14 years with unique achievement. The credits got in the sister schools will be accepted in TKU credit count. The flag-presentation ceremony, representing a landmark for the students’ learning exploration, will be hosted by Founder Dr. Clement C. P. Chang and President Flora C. I. Chang.
43 students are selected as exchange students to various sister schools for one year, including the following,
USA: California State University, Sacramento, The University of West Florida
Canada: Brandon University,
Australia: The University of New South Wales,
Sweden: Stockholm University,
Poland: Warsaw University,
Czechoslovakia: Charles University in Prague,
France: Universite of Jean Moulin , Lyon 3,
Belgium: Universite catholique de Louvain, Haute Ecole-Leonard de Vinci,
Germany: University of Cologne, Bonn University,
Austria: The University of Vienna,
And various sister schools in Japan.
From English Department, there are 10 students going to Indiana University of Pennsylvania, 17 to Winona State University, Minnesota, and 4 to Brandon University, Canada. From Department of Japanese, 30 students will go to study at Reitaku University, 5 to Josai University, 5 to Josai International University, 10 to Kyoto Tachibana Josai Women's University, 5 to Nagasaki University of Foreign Languages.17 Spanish Department students will go to Navarra University, Spain. 15 French Department students will join in the program of the Franche-comte University, France. 19 German Department students will attend courses at Bonn University. 16 Russian Department students will attend St. Petersburg State University in Russia.
54 International Trade students of the special class have been instructed in English for 90 percent of their courses. In their junior year, they all go studying abroad according to their individual application to the institutes in Europe, US, and News Zealand, such as University of St. Thomas, The University of Waikato, New Zealand.
