Tamkang University Will Soon Introduce a New Type of Motorcycle to You

“An ultra-modern super motorcycle: clean, self-sufficient and environmental conscious, will soon be released from the assembly line.” This exciting news was announced recently by Prof. Chen Tun-li, Director, Center for Science and Technology. We may be curious to know what on earth is this unconventional motorcycle.

It is the brain- child of T.K.U.’s faculty of College of Sciences and Chung Hua Resources & Technology Company. Earlier on, they had already produced a transistor (battery- operated) motorcycle. But the new venture made an even bigger stride. Equipped with the newly invented “charge recycling system”, the present transistor motorcycle needs no rechargeable device to make it run!

Because of the constantly renewed energizer system, this type of motorcycle will drive without a hitch and continuously until the transistor runs dry. Its life expectancy is said to be 2 years.

The interim product by Chung Hwa Company, as we have mentioned previously, could only run 50 km. for a round trip between Tamshui and Taipei; then it would need to be recharged.

So, the new invention is a revolution over the recent product and, besides, it will make the traditional motorcycle a dinosaur!

This amazing motorcycle is still on the experimental stage. Except for the thrusting power, it functions almost the same as any other ordinary motorcycle. Once a person owns such a magic driving machine, he/she can forget about refueling or its disgusting exhaustion fume and what’s more, it costs much less than a traditional “octopus”!

The hi-tech device, called the “charge recycling system” was conceived originally by three professors from Tamkang. Their names are: Prof. Chen Tun-li, whom we have already introduced; Prof. Chen Kan-nan, Dean of College of Sciences and Prof. Tu Wen-chien, Department of Mechanical Engineering. According to Prof. Chen Tun-li, in the development of electrically propelled motorcycle, the “charge recycling system” is everybody’s dreamboat. However, everything remained a dream until after the invention of the IC chips, only then the “charge recycling system” was made possible by using two batteries at the same time. This way, one battery by dint of the charge recycling system, can generate power while the other one can keep replenishing it, also through the use of the same system.

“This is also the wonderful work of energy saving and energy recycling.” Prof. Chen further commented.

The incredible motorcycle already arrived at T.K.U. last Friday and ready to be displayed to interested admirers.
