An international conference on the common theme of “The Traditional Chinese/Russian Value System vs. Their Impact upon Modernization Problems” will be held between November 20 and 21 in the International Conference Room, Chueh Sheng Memorial Hall. Scholars from Taiwan, USA, Russia, Ukraine and Italy will come forward to attend and read their research papers. According to Prof. Alexander A. Pissarev, Director, Graduate Institute of Slavic Studies, TKU, the process relating to the modernization of China and Russia cannot be separated from the cultural as well as historical background. However, in viewing their consequence from a vantage point, not merely the process, but also the direction, is different. This, Prof. Pissarev pointed out, will be the major concern of the conference.
