The Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering received a permission from the MOE to establish a Masters Programs for Networking and Communication, and is expected to recruit 15 students from 2006.
Dr. Wang Ying-hong, the Chair of the department sees the MOE's endorsement as a sign that his department is on the right track to a bright future. As Taiwan progresses rapidly in the development of Internet technology and wireless communication, there will be in dire need for skilled workers who can research and create applications that can bring this industry to the next level. With the establishment of these two programs, Tamkang will thus supply highly sought-after skills and talents for the future market.
A new In-sevice Masters Program will also be added to the Department of Information Management and is expected to recruit 14 students. The program aims to promote information application research through case studies and ad-hoc projects. There will also be lecture series inviting scholars, governmental officials and businesses for in-depth analyses. The program will include teacher certificate courses for Safety and Management of Information as well as Technology Applications.
Courses on the Telecommunication Program also deal with Information Management, Telecommunication Security and Internet Technology Applications. Case Studies and projects will be incorporated in the curriculum so as to enhance students' hands-on experience and practical thinking ability. ( ~Ying-hsueh Hu )
