BOTH DEPT. OF PHYSICS AND DEPT. OF CHEMISTRY WILL HOLD THE “SEMINAR FOR

Dept. of Physics and Dept. of Chemistry both hold the “Seminar for Freshmen and Parents” respectively at the beginning of this semester. The Dept. of Chemistry is going to hold the seminar this Saturday at nine o’clock at room C013. The department will invite three alumni that have outstanding performances in the business world. They are, the board chairman of PoTai International Environmental Protection Cooperation, Chung-mou Wu; the chief factory director of Picvue Electronics Cooperation, Hui-chieh Wang; and the head of the office of research and development in ScinoPharm biotechnology company, Yu-nan Shih. Three of them will explain to the parents and freshmen about the current situation in the chemistry sphere of Taiwan, and also make clear on what to prepare before jumping into the employment market. In doing so, these freshmen and their parents will feel more at ease with their future careers.

The seminar is going to be co-hosted by the Chair of the Department of Chemistry, Adam Shih-Yuan Lee and the president of the Alumni Reunion, Kuo-chang Dong. The alumni representatives will also share their secrets on how to start a business with the attendants. The seminar will be held in group discussions. The chair Adam Lee declares that the most concern for the students and parents is “What can I do after I graduate from this department?” In holding this seminar, Lee hopes that with the help of mutual communications, the parents can have a deeper understanding of the outstanding performances of the alumni of Dept. of Chemistry.

As for Dept. of Physics, it has already held the “Seminar for Freshmen, Parents and the Alumni on Future Employments.” They have invited many alumni to join the seminar and shared their experiences on finding a job. The attending alumni were, Peter Yang, the president of APOS Cooperation; Tang-e Tan, vice president of the Kopin Taiwan Cooperation; Kuan-hsien Chen, from the Technology Manager Applied Materials Inc., U.S.A; Chang-ming Ho, the full-time assistant professor of Physics Department; Meng-ju Lin from the Department of Technology Integration of TSMC; and many others.
