【Xin-yu Wang, Kai-jun Lin, Huan-Du, Tamsui Campus Report】The 65th Anniversary Tamkang University celebration took place on Nov. 7 in the Shao-mo Memorial Gymnasium! In attendance was President Flora Chia-I Chang, Director of the Board of Trustees, Chiing-nan Chen, Former University Presidents, Yea-hong Chen, Louis R. Chow, Yun-shan Lin, Horng-jinh Chang; Chairman of Chinese Alumni Association, Chuang Wen Fu, Former Chairman of TKU Elite Alumni Group, Deng-jian Hou, Honorary Chairman of Worldwide Federation of Alumni Association, Xiang-du Duan, Former Chairman of the Federation of Alumni Association of Taiwan Universities-Malaysia, Zi-song Li, Chairman of Hong Kong University Alumni Association, Shu-lin Chiu and Deputy Director of the Republic of China Alumni Association, Zhao-shen Chen.

President Flora Chia-I Chang and Vice President of International Affairs, Wan-chin Tai, participated in a fruitful expedition to Japan. On Oct. 31 they travelled to sister school, Josai University, for its 50th anniversary celebration. President Chang was greeted by Director of the Board of Trustees, Mizuta Noriko and Josai University President, Marimoto, Yasunori.

【Zhi-yue Jiang, Hong-wei Lu, Tamsui Campus Report】On Nov. 4 the Wind Engineering Research Center held the 2015 Wind Engineering Week on the 3rd floor of the Engineering Building. Vice President of Administration, Yi-jen Hu, attended as an honored guest. In addition to giving his best wishes, he took the event tour accompanied with Director of the Wind Engineering Research Center, Cheng-hsin Chang. The two main points of the event tour were “Structures of Wind Engineering” and “An Environment of Wind.” The activity was aimed to give outsiders an understanding of wind engineering including, wind induced vibration analyst, structural effects of wind induced vibration, large suspension support bridges, and the E-wind Engineering Analysis Website.

【Hui-ping Liu, Tamsui Campus Report】Earlier this year, Tamkang University’s Department of Accounting became the first Taiwanese higher learning organization to obtain the CPA Australia certification. On Nov. 3 Accounting Certification Consultant, Ron Woolley and Resource Development Manager, Max Shao came to TKU for an inspection to get a better understanding of the curriculum and to see the current situation of the university. The honored guests were met by Professor of the Department of Bao-guang Chang, Associate Professors, Ku-jun Lin and Fan-hua Kung in addition with 7 TKU masters students for the exchange.

【Pin-jie Chen, Shao-qi Zhang Tamsui Campus Report】From Oct. 15 to 21 the Office of Academic Affairs and the Office of International and Cross Strait Affairs travelled to India, Macau and Hong Kong for the higher learning great achievement appreciation, titled, “The 2015 India -Taiwan Higher Learning Center and Higher Learning Interview Group.” The journey left a deep impression on many overseas students as they peered into the curriculum of the Chinese Language Center, Department of Mass Communication, Department of Banking and Finance, Department of Architecture and the Department of Aerospace Engineering.

【Yu-xiang Sun, Tamsui Campus Report】This year’s 2016 Hult Prize Competition will be themed around Crowded Urban Spaces. Both Tamkang University and National Chengchi University have qualified to compete, representing Taiwan. It’s expected that the two teams of representatives will head to Hong Kong on Mar. 11 for the semi-final competition, deciding which team will be number one in Asia.
