Developing Taiwan’s Digital Landscape

When it started in 2009, the Intercollegiate Digital Learning Program comprised three partnership universities: Tamkang University, Aletheia University and St. John’s University. This year its scope has expanded to include four new universities: Chung Yuan Christian University, Shih Chien University, Yuanpei University, and Tungnan University.

Tamkang Awarded for Student Guidance Services

In a recent evaluation of overseas Chinese student guidance services, Tamkang University received an award for excellence. The evaluation was made by the Ministry of Education, which assessed over 100 universities around Taiwan and presented awards to the top three. The awards will distributed at a ceremony held at the National Taiwan Library on Sep 22.

The 2011 Seminar for New Mainland Chinese Students

This year, a total of 78 Mainland students have arrived at Tamkang to pursue their studies. To help such students adjust to their new environment, on Sep 6 TKU held the 2011 Seminar for New Mainland Students. The seminar was hosted by Dr. Wan-chin Tai, the TKU Vice President for International Affairs. It was designed to help Mainland students navigate the process of course selection and acclimatize to the local surrounds.

The 2011 TKU/JWU Housing Workshop

Recently, 29 students from Japan Women’s University (JWU) came to Tamkang University to take part in the 2011 TKU/JWU Housing Workshop, Taipei & Tokyo. The workshop consisted of students from both universities’ departments of architecture, with 61 TKU students in total. The students were divided into 12 small groups, in which they were able to share their experiences in building and design.

A Special Seminar for Student and Parents

On Sept 8, the TKU Center of Resources for the Blind held a special introductory seminar for physically challenged / visually impaired students and their parents. The seminar, which is held at the beginning of each semester, took place at the Chueh Sheng International Conference Hall and was hosted by the President of TKU, Dr. Flora Chia-I Chang. During the conference, section chiefs and directors from various administrative departments provided student safety information; parents shared experiences their children had encountered while studying; and students asked questions related to facilities and course selection at Tamkang.
