TKU Gets Approval to Recruit Mainland Chinese Students

Tamkang University recently received approval from the ROC Ministry of Education to begin accepting students from Mainland China. Starting from the 2011 academic year, a total of 56 places across 16 TKU academic departments will be made available to Mainland undergraduate (45 places), postgraduate (10 places), and PhD students.

YWAM Montana Perform at Tamkang

On the 27th of April, the TKU English Conversation Club is set to host the Youth With a Mission (YWAM) of Montana at TKU’s Tamsui Campus in an evening of fun performances and cultural interaction. The YWAM Montana has come to Taiwan to embark on a 2 month tour of Taiwan, in which they will perform at a number of locations around the island.

The TKU Cross-Strait Cultural Camp

This year, from July 3 – 8, the TKU Office of International Exchange and International Education (OIEIE) will hold the 2nd annual Cross-strait Cultural Camp. Five TKU teachers and 25 students will be allowed to take part in the camp for free. The Director of the OIEIE Dr. Pei Wha CHI LEE, explained that, as part of the camp, participating students will learn about Taiwanese society, culture, and well-known Taiwanese scenic spots. They will be taken to explore various well-known destinations around Tamsui, as well as the National Palace Museum, Yang Ming Mountain, and Sun Moon Lake. They will even attend a seminar on Taiwanese society and culture.

A Jin Shao Pre-finals Extravaganza

The finals of the 23rd Jin Shao Music Contest will be held on the evening of May 6 at the TKU Tamsui Campus Student Activity Center. To promote the event and help students ease their stress after a full week of mid-term exams, a ‘Pre-finals Promotion Concert’ will be held first, on the 27th of April. It will feature performances by several former Jin Shao winners, including Dong Chao-Yi, Peng Zhong- Ming, Chou Feng-Yi, and Chan Yu-ting, among others.

The TKU Post Mid-term Costume Party

On April 29, the TKU Bartender Skills Learning Club is set to hold a ‘Post Mid-term Costume Party’. During the party, apart from introducing various cocktail beverages – including the “Blue Lagoon” and the “Czech Rose” – there will also be a live DJ, to give the attending students the sense of truly being at a bar. There will also be a prize giveaway, where students can win the chance to take part in cocktail-making classes.
