International Students Lunar New Year Celebration: Food, Performances, and Lucky Draw Bring Faculty and Students Together
On January 7 at 6:30 PM, the Office of International and Cross-Strait Affairs held the 2025 International Students Spring Festival Celebration at the 1st-floor banquet hall of the Golden Tulip Fab Hotel Tamsui. The theme was "Auspicious Snake Brings Prosperity for the New Year." President Huan-Chao Keh, Vice President for International Affairs Hsiao-Chuan Chen, Secretary-General Yu-Pei Ma, first-level academic and administrative executives, as well as Commissioner Yi-Wei Lin of the Overseas Community Affairs Council, Section Chief Meng-Chie Tsai of the Mainland Affairs Council's Hong Kong, Macau, Inner Mongolia, and Tibet Affairs Department, and Director Szu-Hao Chen from the Straits Exchange Foundation’s Cultural and Education Department attended the event, where 260 faculty and students gathered together to celebrate the Lunar New Year.
Winter Break Service Team Flag Ceremony: President Keh Encourages Students to Benefit Others and Themselves
The Extracurricular Activities Guidance Section held the "2024 academic year winter break service team flag presentation ceremony" on the first day of the winter break, January 13, at 2:00 PM at the Student Activity Center. President Huan-Chao Keh, Administrative Vice President Chun-Hung Lin, Vice President for International Affairs Hsiao-Chuan Chen, and first- and second-level supervisors from relevant departments attended. This year, there are 13 service teams, including the bicycle club, the guzheng club, the Chinese Music Club joint service team, and the Tainan Second Senior Hight & Chia-Chi Senior High alumni association, with 238 enthusiastic students who will serve in various locations to spread love.

Carbon Credit Research Project Signed – Chemical Materials Department Partners with Skwentex Energy to Advance Sustainability
The Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering, in collaboration with the "Energy and Photovoltaic Materials Research Center," is assisting the alumni company Skwentex Energy Co., Ltd. (Senergy) with the research project "Exploring the Application of Carbon Credit Trading Market and Geothermal Technology in Carbon Sequestration." The industry-academia cooperation contract was signed on January 17, witnessed by Senergy Chairman and Chemical and Materials Engineering Department alumnus Andy Chen, along with several members from both sides. Department Chair Cheng-Lan Lin and Senergy General Manager Jeffrey Chuang signed the contract on behalf of their respective parties. This one-year collaboration plan is funded by Senergy with NT$500,000, with an additional NT$500,000 donation for the department's development expenses. The project leader is Department Chair Lin, with co-leaders Professor Chao-Tsai Huang and Associate Professor Yi-Wen Wang from the Department. Tamkang University will assist Senergy by providing abundant information through industry data collection, conference participation, training programs, and certification courses to help the company understand domestic and international carbon trading markets, geothermal power generation, and trends in carbon sequestration markets.

Diplomacy and National Security Simulation Camp: Over 100 College Students from 13 Schools Participate
The Graduate Institute of International Affairs and Strategic Studies, Tamkang University, hosted the "National College and University Diplomacy and National Security Decision-Making Simulation Camp 2025— The Indo-Pacific Situation after the Inauguration of the New U.S. Government," held from January 17 to 18 at the Ching-Sheng International Conference Hall. The event was attended by Dean Cheng-Hao Pao of the College of International Affairs, Director Chung-Ni Lu of the Comprehensive Planning Department of the Mainland Affairs Council, and Minister Counselor Chi-Chung Chen of the Department of Policy Planning, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In addition to the faculty and students at our Institute of Strategic Studies, students from 13 colleges and universities—including NCCU, NTU, Cheng Kung, Yangming Chiao Tung, and others—joined, with over one hundred participants in total.
