TKU Signed a Strategic Alliance with Oneworld Hanxin College
The president of our school, Dr. Huan-Chao Keh (on the right), and the president of Malaysia's Oneworld Hanxin College, Tan In Fong, representing both institutions, signed a strategic alliance agreement.

On December 6, our school and Malaysia's Oneworld Hanxin College, represented by President Huan-Chao Keh of Tamkang University and President Tan In Fong of Oneworld Hanxin College, signed a strategic alliance agreement at the Hsu Shou-Chlien International Conference Center. The agreement aims to foster talent development and exchange between the two schools. Vice President for International Affairs Hsiao-Chuan Chen, Dean of the College of Liberal Arts Huei-Chun Chi, Dean of Academic Affairs Tzong-Ru Tsai, Chair of the Department of Mass Communication Mingyu Yang, Chair of the Department of Information and Communication Hui-Ju Lai, CEO of Oneworld Hanxin College Tan Seok Kar, Vice President Koh Ea Boon, Director of International Affairs Ng Kit Wah, Head of Academic Affairs Koh Siang Chai, and Head of Student Enrolment Li Sing Yii were among the participants.

The General Education Center Independent Learning Achievements Joint Exhibition opened on December 4 at the Black Swan Exhibition Hall.

From December 4 to 8, the Center for General Education and Core Curriculum held a week-long "Independent Learning Achievements Joint Exhibition - Crossing the Boundaries of Teaching and Learning." The opening ceremony occurred on December 4 in the Black Swan Exhibition Hall, hosted by Pin Huei Wu, a senior from the Department of Information and Communication, and Hao-Yun Fan, a junior from the Spanish Department. Academic Vice President Hui-Huang Hsu, Dean of the College of Science Tzenge-Lien Shih, Dean of the College of Engineering and AI Innovation College, and Precision Health Management College Tzung-Hang Lee, Dean of the College of Foreign Languages Wan Bau Wu, Dean of the College of International Affairs Cheng-Hao Pao, Dean of the College of Education Kuo-Hua Chen, Dean of Student Affairs Shih-Jung Wu, and Prof. Rui-Mao Huang, Head of the Social Practice Strategy Section of the Sustainability Center at our school, were among the faculty and students who participated in the event.

In the "Green Future: Campus Tour" event, staff from the General Affairs Office explained the functionality of the library's "High-Efficiency Magnetic Levitation Centrifugal Chiller."

Organized by the Center for General Education and Core Curriculum, with the collaboration of the Center for Sustainable Development and Social Innovation, the USR project "Tamsui Good Life: Creative Design Inspired by Mountains, Sea, and Rivers" action team, and the Department of Educational Technology, the "Green Future: Campus Tour" event commenced on December 5 in the Black Swan Exhibition Hall. Led by guides Rui-Yang Li and Yi-Ting Yu, juniors from the Department of Industrial Economics, and Yu Yuan Shi, a senior from the French Department, the participants engaged in a walking tour to discover energy-saving facilities related to "SDG7: Affordable and Clean Energy" within the Tamkang campus.

TKU Alumni Association Headquarters of Departments held its 7th annual general meeting on November 18 at the Great Skyview Hotel in Taipei. The election for the new board of directors for the 7th term occurred during the meeting. Tzu-Hua Chuang passed on the position of president to Samuel Su, and other elected officials included Chao-Long Tsui from the Department of Mathematics, Li-Chu Yeh from the Department of French, and Tzu-Cheng Su from the Department of Management Sciences, who assumed the roles of vice presidents. Rui-Feng Chang took on the position of chief supervisor. The event had 13 tables, creating a lively and festive atmosphere as everyone gathered together.

The Department of Chemistry invited Hong Kong Polytechnic University Distinguished Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Science, Wai-Yeung Wong Raymond, to give a lecture at the school.

The Department of Chemistry hosted a "College of Science Master Lecture" and invited Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) Chair Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Science, Professor Wai-Yeung Wong Raymond, to speak on November 29 in the Communication Building. The lecture topic was "Recent Advances in Phosphorescent Metal Complexes." During the Q&A session, Prof. Wong answered students' questions about scientific topics, and some students expressed curiosity about the research environment and resources in Hong Kong universities, to which Prof. Wong provided detailed explanations.

Our university has achieved remarkable results in digital transformation. On December 12, the Office of Information Services held the "2023 Tamkang University Digital Transformation & Net Zero Transformation Achievement Presentation" at the Taipei campus. The theme was "ESG+AI=∞" and "AI+SDGs=∞," aiming to share the university's digital transformation development strategy. The event showcased the application of the AI personal assistant, 5C Tamkang Tiger Cub, and included a forum on higher education digital transformation & net zero transformation. Additionally, the event marked the inauguration of the first Microsoft Base in Taiwan @ New East Gate Digital Empowerment Demonstration Field. Chairperson Flora Chia-I Chang, President Huan-Chao Keh, Director General of the Administration for Digital Industries Jang-Hwa Leu, President of National Dong Hwa University Han-Chieh Chao, and General Manager of Microsoft's Public Sector Business Group in Taiwan, Golden Eagle alumni Danny Chen, jointly unveiled the plaque for this initiative.

At the conclusion of the Chang Yeo Lan Scholarship Award Ceremony, everyone formed heart shapes with their hands and made gestures symbolizing the act of sending love, representing the spirit of "Tamkang Sustainability, Chang Yeo Lan Spirit."

On the morning of December 12, the Guidance Section of the Student Affairs Office held the "Chang Yeo Lan Scholarship Award Ceremony for the 2023 Academic Year" at Chang Yeo Lan International Conference Hall of Hsu Shou-Chlien International Conference Center. The event was hosted by President Huan-Chao Keh and attended by Academic Vice President Hui-Huang Hsu, Administrative Vice President Chun-Hung Lin, Vice President for International Affairs Hsiao-Chuan Chen, as well as first- and second-level supervisors from relevant departments and offices, and scholarship recipients. Over 300 people gathered to witness the ceremony, where the Department of Management Sciences' alumnus, Hang-Chlien Hsu, generously contributed to the university by establishing scholarships to benefit junior students.

MBRAN FILTRA Co., Ltd. received the Silver Award at the 32nd Taiwan Excellence Awards from the Ministry of Economic Affairs. CEO Hsu-Hsuan Chang (on the right) accepted the award from Minister of Economic Affairs Mei-Hua Wang.

The company MBRAN FILTRA Co., Ltd., co-founded by alumni from the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering, including Hsu-Hsuan Chang and Bo-Yu Chen, has recently received recognition from the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA). They were honored with the 30th Small and Medium Enterprises Innovation Research Award and the Silver Award at the 32nd Taiwan Excellence Awards. The awards were presented by Minister of Economic Affairs Mei-Hua Wang on November 22 and December 6, respectively.

The 2nd Ministry of Education (MOE) Library Contribution Award winners were recently announced, and Sheue-Fang Song, the Dean of our university's Chueh-Sheng Memorial Library, was honored with the "Outstanding Library Manager Award." The award was presented to her on December 12 at the award ceremony held at the National Library, with Teng-Chiao Lin, the Administrative Deputy Minister of MOE and also an alumnus of Tamkang University, presenting the award.

The results of the "Art of Calligraphy with the Intelligent e-Pen - AI-Generated Calligraphy Creative Contest" and the "2023 College Student e-Pen Calligraphy Contest," organized by the Carrie Chang Fine Arts Center, were recently announced. In the former, Yun-Yi Yeh from outside the university secured first place, while in the latter, Hsin-Ju Hsieh from the Department of Architecture and Chao-Yue Yang from the Department of Public Administration tied for second place. In the e-Pen calligraphy contest, Shao-Hsun Lin from the Department of Information Management received the Special Award, and Cheng-Hsin Lin from the Department of Advanced Materials Science and Engineering claimed second place.
